All
Natural
Dog Shampoo Bar |
| We have had many requests for an All Natural dog shampoo--an all natural
alternative to harsh chemical-based liquid dog shampoos--to pamper
our four footed friends.
The base formula we chose for
our dog soap is similar to that of our people shampoo with oils and
butters and lots of natural glycerin to nourish your dog's coat.
We add essential oils that soothe, repel insects, and smell
nice. These bars are also great camping soaps to help keep pesky critters off
of humans too.
Using a bar of soap to wash
your dog is much easier and less messy than using traditional liquid
soap.
To bathe your dog:
-
wet down your dog
-
rub the bar on
your dog's coat to make a rich lather
-
massage the shampoo deep into your
dog's fur
-
rinse well
-
rub your pooch down with an clean,
dry towel

Ida's All Natural
Dog Shampoo! |

The Environmental Working Group took samples from dogs
and cats and discovered that the animals were polluted
with many of the same chemicals that humans are, which
makes sense, considering our pets live in the same
environments we do.
One way to take some steps to make our dogs healthier is
to switch to natural pet care products. Many of us
have already switched to natural shampoos and
soaps,
getting rid of all the ones with questionable chemicals.
Now it is time to do the same for our dogs! |

Cedarwood & Lavender
Dog Shampoo
Our all natural shampoo blend for dogs, enriched with
moisturizing sunflower oil and shea
butter, is excellent for producing healthy, shiny coats. This dog soap is made with extra castor and jojoba oil
to penetrate the dense coarse fur of your pooch. It
contains comfrey root powder for a soft, silky feel, plus skin-loving essential oils
specifically chosen to repel bugs and reduce pet odor. Because animals have such a keen sense of
smell, we use gentle essential oils so your pet's nose
will not become irritated by a strong scented soap. Cedarwood
is a natural insect repellent,
antiseptic, deodorant, and coat conditioner. It
also helps
treat skin eruptions.
Fir needle repels ticks and
fleas.
This shampoo bar also contains soothing aloe and
calming lavender oil to help relieve dry itchy skin.
Ingredients: Saponified
oils of olive, coconut, castor bean, palm, hazelnut,
jojoba, rice bran, unrefined shea butter, and canola; organic aloe;
comfrey root powder; essential oils of cedarwood, lavender, and fir needle;
and
vitamin E oil. |

Honey & Oats Dog Shampoo
This soothing oatmeal dog shampoo bar recipe was developed at the request
of our friend Vicki who runs a rescue effort for
miniature
Pinschers.
The dogs she rescues often have terrible skin
conditions. Finely ground
oats, aloe vera, honey, an extra dose of Vitamin E, and
cornstarch help soothe and heal itchy, irritated,
inflamed, and dry skin. The natural emollient oils,
cocoa butter, and
coat conditioning jojoba oil add shine as they moisturize.
Essential oils of eucalyptus, lavender, lemongrass,
peppermint, and tea tree oil help repel fleas and ticks.
Peppermint essential oil has antiseptic and astringent
qualities. It helps relieve pets of many common topical
skin problems, while it acts to cool and relieve
irritated skin associated with flea bites and other
minor skin irritations.
Tea Tree Oil is a broad-based
spectrum antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agent. It has soothing proprieties that are useful for insect
bites and itching skin conditions. Lavender essential
oil calms, soothes, and helps relieve dry itchy skin.
Ingredients: Saponified oils of coconut,
safflower, palm, castor bean, rice bran, jojoba, cocoa
butter, and canola; organic aloe vera; finely ground
oats; raw honey; essential oils of peppermint,
eucalyptus, lemongrass, tea tree, and lavender;
cornstarch; vitamin E oil; and rosemary oil extract.

The bar lathers up great making it easier to wash a

Hi, I would like to
give you a testimonial to your dog soap bars. My
mother gave me a couple of bars as a gift.
THEY ARE MIRACULOUS!!!! I have three
Shih Tzu's and one of them has VERY flaky skin. I
have tried expensive $30 bottles of "medicated" &
"oatmeal" shampoos. These left my dog with
continued flakes and a weird smell. After
THE FIRST bath with your natural dog soap, my dog was
squeaky clean and FREE OF dry skin, irritation, and
flakes.
I am a believer and plan on buying these bars for all of
my friends for the holidays. |

Our Dog
Shampoo is a Great HORSE SHAMPOO Too! |
Peggy,
California |
Hi Ida,
I recently purchased some items for the
first time from you and wanted to let you know how
pleased I am with them. One of the items I purchased
was the Lavender and Cedarwood dog shampoo bar. I have
a horse, Kathleen, who has been suffering from skin
allergies for many years, to the point where she gets
allergy shots. She's very sensitive. We are having
some freakishly hot weather for November, and I've felt
sorry for my horses in their winter coats in this hot
weather, which is also attracting more flies than even
the summer months. I gave Kathleen a bath with this
soap. I was very pleased at how well it lathered
despite our hard water, and more importantly, how easily
it rinsed clean. This soap did not bother her sensitive
skin, in fact the lavender soothed it, and the cedarwood
kept the flies away. Her coat was soft and shiny when
she was dry. Since there are a limited number of things
I can use topically on this horse, I'm happy to have
found this shampoo, and I'll definitely be keeping it
around. Thanks for making such a great product for my
four legged kids. |

Our
customers have told us that our dog
shampoo bars are also great soaps for campers and
hikers.
The essential oil blends contain
natural insect repellants! |

Warning About CATS:
Our
dog soap is gently scented with essential oils.
There is a lot of research stating that essential oils
should NOT be used on cats.
Cats have very thin, delicate skin. This means that
essential oils can be absorbed more rapidly into their
skin and enter the bloodstream. Cats also lack the
ability to metabolize certain essential oils the way
that dogs or humans can. Their livers do not have the
necessary enzymes to break down and excrete certain
chemical compounds in essential oils. The chemical
compounds can accumulate in a cat's body and build up to
toxic levels. Due
to their weak liver function there have been many cases
of cats becoming severely ill, suffering permanent side
effects, and in some cases loss of life. |

DOGGIE VINEGAR RINSE |
|
Your pooch
can benefit from the same herbal vinegars we use to make our hair
and scalp healthy.
A diluted vinegar rinse applied after bathing helps control
dandruff,
adds shine to the coat, and will help remove odors.
Mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar
into in 4 cups (1 quart) of water. Use as a the final rinse
after shampooing--no need to wash it out--just towel dry.
Vinegar works as a detangling
solution for long-haired people--and also for long-haired pets.
Make your doggy vinegar rinse in a spray bottle using 1 tablespoon
of vinegar and 1 cup distilled water.

KATIE'S DOGGY VINEGAR TIPS |
|
Katie from
Pennsylvania sent us some tips for using vinegar on your pooch!
1. FLEAS and other
pests:
Bathe
your dog with one of Ida's gentle dog shampoos and rinse thoroughly.
Then sponge on ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) diluted with equal amounts
of warm water and allow your dog to drip dry. The fleas drown
in soapy water and the ACV rinse makes the skin more acidic to help
prevent flees from returning. If your dog often picks up fleas
when you take him on an outing, keep some ACV in a spray bottle.
You can then spray your dog before you leave home and when you get
back. I have friend who even adds a teaspoon of ACV to
her dog's food everyday during the summer months.
2.
EAR PROBLEMS:
Our floppy eared dogs
have issues with ear infections and ear mites. I mix 1
part ACV vinegar with 1 part distilled water a plastic squeeze
bottle and use it as an ear wash. One of my dogs REALLY hates
it when I try placing the bottle near his ear, so I put some of the
ACV mix on a cotton ball (I use enough so that some will trickle
down his ear canal) and wipe his ears clean. My friend
who gave me this recipe infuses the vinegar with dried chamomile,
calendula, and comfrey before mixing it with water.

EAR WAX BUILDUP REMEDY |
| Wax can build
up in your dog's ears and cause an offensive odor. The wax
needs to be removed and the ear deodorized. Dilute 2-3 drops of
lavender essential oil into one tablespoon of Witch Hazel.
Place about 4 drops into each ear and gently massage the whole ear.
Don’t poke your finger or other foreign objects inside the ear
canal. Repeat this procedure daily to soften the wax and then
gently remove it with a soft cotton cloth or gauze pad.
If your furry friends are
prone to ear infections,
after
your grooming sessions, use a few drops of apple cider vinegar in
their ears to help avoid ear infections.
If your dog’s ears look red
or inflamed, do not use any product on their ears without checking
first with your vet. If you observe your dog shaking his head
often, or if his ears have an unusually odd or “yeasty” smell, you
may need to have your vet check to be sure there are no ear mites,
fungal, or
other infections. Dogs with floppy ears are more prone to ear
infections. Moisture can get trapped in their ears and the
ears cannot easily dry out. |
You should always check with
your Vet before using home remedies on your pets!!!
